What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas! Famed for its nightlife, Las Vegas is the only place where you can travel the world without needing to get on a plane. The main street and hub of entertainment in the city is known as the Strip, home to themed hotels, live entertainment and countless food options. Just north of the Strip is Downtown. The urban and historic center is home to the original casinos on Fremont Street and the arts district.
With warm and sunny weather all year round, Las Vegas is the perfect destination to travel to by bus as the only other form of transportation you really need to get around is walking. Similarly, many of the hotels are connected by bridge or underground so you don’t even need to go outside while exploring the venues.
It is a common misconception that the only things to do in Las Vegas are to go to casinos and clubs, however, there are a wide variety of places to see and things do on your trip!
It may be surprising, but Las Vegas is home to some incredible museums that cover a wide variety of topics linked back to the city’s history. One of the most fascinating museums is the Mob Museum, located near Fremont Street, which focuses on the history of organized crime and its impact on American society. Through interactive exhibits, you can learn about the origins of the mob in America and how the law put many of the mob bosses behind bars. The museum also has multiple exhibitions on prohibition and the mob’s involvement in bootlegging and making moonshine.
Or, you can walk through Las Vegas’ history by visiting the Neon Museum, home to old or discarded neon signs that once lit up the Strip. Enjoy the guided tour and learn more about the city and the signs’ history from the 1930s to today. Some of the signs have been restored to their former glory and are lit up for the night tours. It’s a perfect place to up your Instagram game!
Las Vegas isn’t a city that you would typically associate with art. Besides the themed hotels, which are a work of art themselves, Las Vegas also has a vibrant art scene.
The Las Vegas Arts District is a neighborhood located south of downtown Las Vegas. The newly revamped area is home to many galleries, antique shops and restaurants. Check out the Arts Factory and Art Square, home to a variety of art galleries and studios as well as bars and theaters. On the first Friday of each month, the Las Vegas Arts District hosts a culture and arts festival with live music and food trucks where local artists display and sell their work.
Fine art lovers will want to check out the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art and see works from some of the world’s greatest painters including Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh.
For a lightshow you will never forget, head down to the Fremont Street Experience, a five-block entertainment district. Every night, a light show is played on the 1,500 feet long screen which features over 12.5 million LED lights! Another cool way to see the show is by riding the zipline that goes down Freemont Street.
Las Vegas is the place where people can let loose and do things they’d never dream of, so when you hop off your bus, why don’t you try something you’ve never done before? Las Vegas is full of thrilling activities. Check out the Stratosphere and leap off the 829-foot tower with SkyJump or go on some of the rides that dangle you over the edge of the tower. You could also swim with sharks at the Shark Reef Aquarium in Mandalay Bay or fly a plane at Sky Combat Ace.
Want to explore outdoors? Las Vegas is near some great hiking locations including the Red Rock Canyon which is especially wonderful in the winter, or Mt. Charleston which allows you to escape the desert heat in the summer. You can also take a helicopter to the Grand Canyon, where you can land inside the canyon and explore the cliffs. Or, take in all the beauty of the desert with the ATV tour which starts right outside your hotel on the Las Vegas Strip!
