Starting this month, FlixBus will launch service on the following express routes:
St. Louis – Nashville – Atlanta (Launching March 13, 2025)
FlixBus is expanding its Southern-Midwest connections with a new express service linking St. Louis, Nashville, and Atlanta. Operated in partnership with St. Louis-based Vandalia Bus Lines, this route is strategically designed to connect between the Midwest and the South, offering a faster alternative for travelers heading to three of Flix’s highest-demand cities.
This service is particularly valuable for students at universities such as Vanderbilt University, Southern Illinois University, and Georgia State University, offering direct and affordable intercity travel. The new line will operate 6 to 7 schedules each week.
Cincinnati – Indianapolis – Chicago – Madison (Launching March 13, 2025)
For the first time, FlixBus is adding Cincinnati to its network with a new route connecting Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin. The express service will cut travel times to just 9 to 10 hours compared to traditional options that take up to 16 hours. Key stops along the route include the University of Cincinnati, Indianapolis transit hubs, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
This route enhances access for students traveling between campuses and major cities, providing an essential link for weekend trips, school breaks, and visiting family. Operated in partnership with Cincinnati-based Queen City Transportation, the new line will offer 6 to 7 schedules each week.
New York – Chicago (Launching March 19, 2025)
A long-awaited expansion for FlixBus travelers, this new direct route will provide an affordable and comfortable travel option between New York City and Chicago, two of the most in-demand destinations in the FlixBus network. Operated in partnership with New Jersey-based Eagle Bus Lines, the route will run daily schedules beginning on April 14, with 5 to 7 schedules per week until then. This route introduces FlixBus service to State College, PA, home to Penn State University, further strengthening connectivity for students.
In total, this route will connect over two million college students to New York and Chicago, linking through high-density cities like Pittsburgh, Columbus, Dayton, and Indianapolis.

By expanding access to major universities and college towns, FlixBus is providing students with more direct, convenient connections to key destinations across the Midwest and South. With multiple daily departures and easy last-minute booking, passengers can plan their trips on their schedule, without worrying about limited availability or complicated transfers.
With amenities like free Wi-Fi, power outlets, and extra legroom, FlixBus ensures that every ride is as comfortable as possible. Whether catching up on coursework, streaming entertainment, or simply unwinding, passengers can make the most of their travel time while reaching their destination with ease.
More Consumers Choosing Bus Travel in North America
With growing demand for affordable and accessible travel options, FlixBus continues to see record ridership across its network. Flix North America, parent company of both FlixBus and Greyhound, recently reported a 7.5% year-over-year increase in ridership over the peak winter holiday season, reinforcing a broader shift in how people are traveling.
The data aligns with a new Chaddick Institute report, which projects bus ridership in the U.S. will grow by 4% in 2025, outpacing forecasts for airline and car travel. As airfare remains high and travelers seek affordable options for weekend trips, visiting family, or traveling to college campuses, intercity buses continue to serve as a critical and growing alternative. By expanding routes that connect students to universities, major transit hubs, and key urban centers, FlixBus is reinforcing its commitment to making travel more accessible for the next generation of travelers.
“There’s a shift happening in how people think about travel. It’s no longer just about getting from one place to another; it’s about affordability, convenience, and making smarter choices,” said Frayter. “We’re building a network that reflects what travelers want today: reliable, stress-free transportation that fits their budget and their lifestyle.”
Tickets for all destinations are now available at FlixBus.com and via the FlixBus app.
